Day 4 of filming

In day 4, we filmed many scenes which include:
  • Flashback scene of  of a young Kaya Maki, tending to the bonsai tree
  • Present day scene of Kaya Maki tending to the bonsai tree
  • Flashback scene of a young Kazuo, the brother
  • Bowing scene of of Japanese gangsters to the head of the family
  • Dinner scene
  • Tattoo scene
One of my groups friend had luckily had a bonsai tree and asked for permission if they could film it. For the first two scenes, Celina and Jasmine both filmed together while chandler was vlogging. Here shows a young Kaya Maki running towards the bonsai tree, looking at the bonsai tree with young and present Kaya Maki. So in the editing process we can revert back and forth with the two actors.

For the next location we used a friends house, which looked very modern house and Japanese like decorations to help with the wealth of the Yakuza. First was the bowing scene the head of the Yakuza and family of Kaya Maki's. By bowing this would show how much power and authority he has. As it would be a mid shot of our actor, Francois sitting down. Me and Chandler would be the ones bowing and would be part of this scene as it wouldn't reveal our faces.

Before our dinner scene, we took a shot of a young Kazuo, using Chantelle's real smaller brother for the part where he is learning karate with his teacher. Here we wanted to film more flashback scenes with the brother of the main protagonist.

The next scene filmed was the dinner scene, here we would have Kazuo and Kaya Maki seeming to have a negotiation but all goes wrong with Kaya Maki replying 'NO!'. This helps to further establish that the relationship between siblings is tense and there is a lot of conflict between them even though they are family. The shots used in this scene were shot reverse shot.

For the last scene, it was the tattoo scene using the designs which we planned from our storyboarding process. The design would be a tree, with Celina drawing it out with markers with the writing of 'Loyalty' in kanji which is the way that Japanese write. This took a bit of time as she had to draw it on Chantelle's back carefully. Below is Celina during the process of creating the tattoo.

This is the tilt shot of Chantelle's back, slowly revealing it.
